Few countries are blessed with so much natural beauty that pretty much covers the entire country. And it’s not a small country with lush, beautiful landscape like Switzerland. It’s actually pretty big, the journey from the southern end to the gates of arctic Norway taking more than two days of driving. It is not going to be a cheap vacation, but you will not regret it, no matter which part of the country you choose to visit.

What is there to see in Norway ? Everyone knows about the famous fjords, and they deserve all the hype they get, if you take the time to explore them. But there is much more. Most people will travel to southern Norway, and spend a few days within the Oslo-Bergen corridor, along with a visit to the most famous Sognefjord region. And that’s a fine itinerary. That’s pretty much what we did as well in our limited time. If I had to do it over, I would go further north. Take your time to drive up the Atlantic Coast and visit the Geirangerfjord area, or take even longer to visit the Lofoten Islands, one of the most picturesque settings one will find anywhere. If you feeling adventurous, go ahead visit the arctic frontier of Svalbaard and hunt for polar beers! During early spring, fall and winter when nights are longer, visit Tromso to catch the spactacular northern lights. All of those destinations are worthy of an entire vacation by themselves! Our visit, sadly, was limited to the southern, most visited tourist areas, along with one not-so-visited site.
